Here, in Southampton, we’re enjoying a heat wave of sorts. Ever since the beginning of the nor’easter late last week, the temperatures have been in the high fifties and low sixties. During the past couple of days we have the sliders open, and because almost all the leaves are off the trees, we now have a steady stream of sunshine on the south-facing side of our house, especially in the kitchen. Instead of just showing you our sunlit kitchen, I thought it would be interesting to focus on several detailed images of things in our kitchen this morning.
For all the food photography, I use a tripod, digital camera, a macro lens, and I have the camera tethered to a laptop where I run Capture One pro 5.0. I have a small studio set up off of the kitchen for photographing most of the food you see here on our blog. But this morning, I thought it would be fun just to hand-hold the camera and capture images the old fashioned way, looking and focusing through the viewfinder, albeit with a digital camera. We hadn’t really scrubbed down the kitchen yet today before I started photographing, so clearly this not a staged or propped “shoot”.
Enjoy.
