For once, it was a quiet New Year’s Eve at 2Gourmaniacs. We had a small impromptu dinner party the night before, making the most of some amazing Christmas dinner leftovers still lurking in the refrigerators. But on the first day of 2013 the other gourmaniac and I had a very productive eight hours or so in the 2GM kitchen.
We made:
- 140 sweet potato stuffed ravioli (from large sweet potatoes unused at Thanksgiving)
- 4 gallons of turkey stock (finally using the last turkey racks still in the freezer from Thanksgiving)
- 3 loaves of Ciabatta with chopped flecks of our own sun-dried tomatoes
- 8 homemade Naan breads (to be used with a dinner)
- chicken, cauliflower, and chick-peas in Indian curry (complemented by the above Naan)
- shucked 2 dozen fresh oysters
New Year’s resolutions from 2 gourmaniacs:
- Mill our own grain this year
- Start a Sous-Vide tab on the 2GM blog
- Make a “cold smoke” smoke-house
- Publish a 2gourmaniacs seafood cookbook
- Lose at least 10 pounds by Easter … rrrrright!
