This time of year is magnificent with its dazzling colors everywhere — the luminous leaves, the sparkling bushes and plants, and all the bright food offerings from the earth. You can capture some of Autumn’s brilliant colors in a simple lunch salad. It started without much thought but before I knew it I saw the pattern … The steamed purple cauliflower instantly changed to red where the freshly squeezed lemon juice had just been poured. The baby beets’ rich maroon color, the deep red hue of its marinade, and — but wait! Isn’t this the same color as my “micro-fiber-suede” napkins? As soon as I produced the napkin, I knew it was a perfect match. Now all I needed were a handful of baby greens, a sprinkling of olive oil, a bit more lemon juice, a pinch of salt and pepper, a marinated cipollina thrown in for good measure, and before I knew it I had created a deliciously healthy lunch and a lovely subject for a “Fall Food Fotograph.” Time for a photo shoot.
